COMPLIANCE FOR AB506

IMPORTANT NEWS

Our insurance company informed us of a new California law that passed in January of 2022 called AB506. It pertains to the staff and volunteers of our organization (Cedars & affiliated home churches), as well as those who rent our facility, who have contact with minors. You can read more about it here from our insurance company’s partner page.

We are current on some of the requirements, but we are not up to date or in compliance on all. Our Insurance company has given us a grace period to come into compliance - we will need to be diligent together.

IN BRIEF IT MEANS

  • Review & subsequent training of the organization's policy and procedures

  • Mandated Training 1.5hr for each volunteer who interacts with minors

  • Fingerprinting for those who have contact with youth/minors

  • Regular volunteer background checks (repeat every two years)

  2. Pick a LiveScan (fingerprinting) Appointment Date (click here). Do not enter any CC info. Ignore the ads. This is for signup only.

  3. SIGN UP ASAP for the training HERE.

Training at Cedars

February 11th, 2023**

  • 9:00am - 10:45am Mandated Training* (certificate earned is sharable w/ other organizations)

  • 11:00am - 12:00pm Policies & Procedures

  • Cost of training/certification for volunteers of Cedars & affiliated home churches is covered by Cedars Church.

  • Lunch included

*There will be sensitive and potentially disturbing material in the mandated training. If you prefer to take the required mandated training portion at home before the Feb. 11th event (or have already acquired a certificate), include that in an RSVP to Annie, Esteban, or Laura.

Note: If you end up not being in person for the first half of the Feb. 11th training due to the above, you are still expected to attend the second half of the training on Cedars Campus Feb. 11th.

**If something absolutely prevents you from attending the training day, we understand :) Please communicate with us so we can make accommodations for you to receive what you need.

LIVESCAN

LiveScan appointments have been graciously provided to us in partnership with Bridges Community Church

  • Pick your spot today to secure what works for your schedule**

  • Cost of fingerprinting* for volunteers of Cedars & affiliated home churches is covered by Cedars Church.

  • Location of LiveScan is at Bridges Community Church campus in Fremont.

*LiveScan is not transferable to other organizations. Each organization requires their own Live Scan, so you will still need to complete this step even if you have been fingerprinted for another organization. However, if you have been previously fingerprinted through Kings Kids Preschool your LiveScan is already included in the Cedars Church database.
